Carbon Dioxide Adsorption by a High-Surface-Area Activated Charcoal
نویسندگان
چکیده
An activated carbon (AC) with a high surface area of 4320.7 m2/g was synthesized via the chemical and thermal processing walnut residues. The resulting charcoal characterized by various techniques, including Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), IR spectroscopy. prepared studied for its capacity to adsorb CO2 gas. When exposed 60 min in closed chamber at atmospheric pressure 25 °C, adsorption notable 301.1 mmol (13.25 g CO2) per gram observed.

CO, Adsorption Techniques On High Surface Area Activated Carbons
For years the subject of CO, adsorption on activated carbons has been both challenged and supported. The question remains whether or not CO, is a valid adsorbate for characterizing pore structures of activated carbons. The predominance of nitrogen adsorption as a routine experimental technique for BET surface area approximations has more or less overshadowed the limitations of this technique in...
متن کاملRadon Determination by Activated Charcoal Adsorption and Liquid Scintillation Measurement
A passive diffusion method for the determination of radon concentration has been optimised and calibrated. The device consists of a scintillation vial containing activated charcoal, a diffusion barrier and a desiccant agent. The response to diverse atmospheric humidity and variable exposure intervals was studied. The result is a detector independent of atmospheric humidity till 7 days of exposu...
متن کاملNitrogen and carbon dioxide adsorption by soils.
High-resolution nitrogen (77 K) and carbon dioxide (273 K) adsorption at subatmospheric pressures has been studied for a range of model soils of various origins with different organic matter (OM) contents. It is demonstrated that N2 and CO2 molecules probe different regions of soil particles. Nitrogen is adsorbed primarily on the outer surface of soil particles, while CO2 has a higher affinity ...
متن کاملActivated carbon surface modifications by adsorption of bacteria and their effect on aqueous lead adsorption
The adsorption of Escherichia coli on different activated carbons has been studied. The activated carbon samples used have been characterized, determining their surface area, pore size distribution, elemental analysis, mineral matter analysis and pH of the point of zero charge. The adsorption capacity of these carbons increased with their hydrophobicity and macropore volume. The number of bacte...
